I'm saddened IZ is gone. His music is inspirational and his voice was beautiful. Our recent visit to Hawaii showed us more of God's majestic beauty on earth than we have ever seen. Hearing this song brings back those beautiful memories, and will always bring us back to the small bit of Paradise on earth we were able to see while in Hawaii. Mahalo for the memories, and rest in God's arms IZ. Aloha and may your dreams of Peace and Harmony on the Islands be realized.

Since going to Hawaii the first time in 1988, the Hawaiian music has made me think of God and love. Later hearing IZ's music, it made my heart soar in the winds, and was very comforting to my soul. Just last night I had to take my wife to the emergency ward at the Auburn hospital. While she aw waiting in the room there on the bed I played Isreal's music for her, and she was very comforted by his voice I like the way he sings for the Hawaiian people. To have a rich heritage makes one proud, and to fight for that heritage is a noble thing. Thank you IZ for your love of your home land in songs. Bob

IZ is surly in heaven. I was riding to church today with my Grandaughters when this song came on the radio, I had heard the tune before but never really paid a lot of attention to it. I asked them what it was and they said over the rainbow silly. I played over the Rainbow today for the first time today on guitar. As I started playing I began to have tears of sorrow and of joy that I did not understand. You see I am a grown man ond do not cry. I could feel someone with me while I was playing. So I looked up the artist only to find the whole tragic story of the loss of this fine example of a man. IZ Lives in his music now!

I got to know this great man just recently. I couldn't believe how beautiful his songs are. I cried the first time I heard his wonderful voice in Hawaii 78. I repeated the song all night long. It was so deep and meaningful. I never felt like this for other artists. Too bad he was taken too early. It would be wonderful to see him sing live. Thank you for the songs IZ... you will always be remembered as a great man..

Visiting Hawaii and hearing IZ's music changed my life! Only wish i could have seen him live. RIP Brudda IZ

Just came back from a Hawaiian vacation and the Hawaiian culture and music especially IZ music was so relaxing. Awesome musician and his music will keep on living on earth and in heaven. Heard 'Over the rainbow' for the first time just a few days ago. Absolutely loved the 'different' version. There are so many (too many) versions, but they're all so similar to the original - this was different! I enjoyed it so much I had to go to google to try & find it (which isn't easy for an old lady like me.) Wish IZ could've made more music ...

It is sad for me that I just recently discovered IZ (Pandora played his music and I ran to see who it was). His music brings tears to my eyes but peace to my soul. I will be listening until I join him in heaven to listen even more.

My husband, who just passed away in November, 2011, found this treasure of an artist. We were captivated with the beauty of his voice and the goodness of his soul. Listening to his music helps ease the pain of my loss.

I stationed in Oahu 1980-84. Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau they had a great band. I remember when Skippy died. Real sad and great loss for the group. I left and rarely heard anymore Hawiian music (except what I taped). Now I'm catching up listening to everything I've missed. It saden me to hear IZ past. However I know he is making better music and him and Skippy are having a blast. Can't wait to see them two playing again. Gabby is there to with Sonny. You shall be MISSED IZ. MAHALO & ALOHA

Music has and will always be the most special gift God has given us. As a musician I have heard and played hundreds of songs, and when I heard IZ sing "Over the Rainbow" along with "Wonderful World" it touched my heart. On my recent visit to Honolulu I got to see the place that he loved so much. I feel that he has touched the heart of so many with his beautiful spirit and kind nature, and marvelous talent. To his family....thank you for bringing such a wonderful person to the world for all to share, and thank you dear Lord for placing the Holy Spirit in the heart of one of your singing angels that bless this earth and our lives.

I have a fond memory of contemprary Hawaiian music having lived there for a while in 1978. IZ's was two years younger than me. His redention of Rainbow and Wonderful Life still bring a chill to my soul and tears to mind... an addictive feeling. Thank you IZ. Aloha bra!

Wow... I am blown away by how wonderful this man was and is. Even in death his beauty and warmth still touches people. I am brought to my knees in awe and joy that his music and voice inspires. His voice is so peaceful and you can feel his spirit when you listen to his music. This is what music is supposed to be and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to hear it. My wife and I were married on the north shore of Oahu in June 2008. The company who carried out the ceremony played Somewhere over the Rainbow on a portable CD player. Iz has the most fantastic voice and the simple arrangement just makes the song perfect. I'm in to heavy rock but when I got back to the UK I ordered a copy of Facing Future and I love it. Every time I listen to the CD it reminds of the beauty of the islands and the people of Hawaii. We hope to return to Hawaii in 2013 to spend some more time in paradise. RIP Iz, we can all share the gift of your wonderful music.

Israel's melodic voice, particularly in Somewhere Over the Rainbow, touches the depth of my spirit. After my wife divorced me for another man, my son and I went to mass every Sunday. Without fail, while driving home from church, we'd tune into a Boston radio station which play Somewhere Over the Rainbow at the same time each week. My young son always remarked how this song always "makes me feel good inside, in my heart." It had the same affect on me. When I hear this song today, the affect is the same. It guides me to an inner peace. Thank you for sharing your special gift with a divorced man and his young son. Peace my brother!

My wife and I took a vacation to Hawaii in March of 2010. We had never heard of Iz until our tour bus driver played his "Rainbow" song over the intercom. I then realized I had heard the song by him before but didn't know it was him. We became such big fans that the first thing we did when we got off the plane in Rapid City was go to a record store and bought two of his CD's. Its too bad he has passed on. What a wonderful singer.

I cannot listen to "Somewhere over the Rainbow" without tearing up. The first reason is because the world has lost a very loveable, peaceful man. The second- the reason I'm sure IZ would wish for- is because there are few true rays of sunshine left in this world, and he was, and still is, one of them. God bless you, IZ.

My family went to Hawaii a few years back & we all fell in love with Iz, his message & his music.

Brudda Iz became a big part of my life when I started racing outriggers in So California in the early 90"s. He is a big part of my Hawaiianess and keeping things in perspective in this crazy world. I am counting the days when I leave working in China and can return to my final home in Kona. Thank you brudda Iz!

me & my wife got married in vegas then went to kauai for our 2nd ann; last october 2010, wished we had got married on kauai, the music of iz is magical, he was a very special person to us & to the people of hawaii, sadly missed but remembered by everyone & will be forever, i'm now trying to learn the ukulele & i want to learn 'over the rainbow' & sing it when we come back to kauai, which should be 2013, iz should be an inspiration to us all, god bless him & his family, john & helen goodinson

I stumbled accross Izzy singing somewhere over the rainbow. It was a tribute to Mother whom had passed. We used Izzy's version for my mothers funeral. I love this ong and I am truly saddened to hear of Izzy's passing. May God bring comfort to the hearts of his beloved family. Such a beautiful person whose life was cut way to short. Many blessings to his family.

I just stumbled across IZ's recording of Over the Rainbow and What A Wonderful World. These are two of my all time favorite songs and his interpretation of them was absolutely beautiful. This was the first I'd heard of IZ, but I was awestruck at the beauty and pureness of his voice and his talent. I'm saddened to hear he has left us. I wish peace for his family.

His version of "Somewhere over the rainbow" makes me sad for some reason. Great song but just sad. RIP. Hope you are up in heaven playing the ukelele.

To Iz's family: I am deeply sorry that your dear loved one, Iz, had to leave this world so soon. We are blessed that he recorded his beautiful voice for us to listen to. Thank you for sharing Iz with the world. I hope he is in heaven with Jesus so that I can meet him someday. Jesus loves us all. Trust in Him alone.

I searched the song "over the rainbow" and realized that the interpret sadly has already gone from this world. I gona have a lecture about the gently giant. I think he earns that. I would have liked to meet him; shame that I can't meet him no more. I'll listen to his music forever! r.i.p.

I just bought my first IZ cd and fell in love with him. I did not realize he had passed away and I am very sad. I have bought his other CD's and will continue to listen to his beautiful voice. I would have loved to have met him.

I only discovered IZ today by accident listening to the wave 94.7fm and was hypnotized by his smoothe creamy voice... i googled him only to be saddend to find he'd passed. I think Freddy from Brisbane got it right. God needed IZ to sing with the angels but lucky us - we have the ability to record and preserve Iz's voice for all time so even though he's not walking the earth with us, people like me can continue to listen to him and discover this beautiful soul. God bless you Iz and your family and friends. I know they know your spirit lives on forever and ever, Amen.

I was exposed to IZ after his death, unfortunately, and have loved his music ever since. Amazing artist who died way too young.

Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole was a true Hawaiian legend and still is one. My dad's cousin played with him and the Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau and was a loyal friend. Let Bradah Iz's legacy live on and for you people out there who haven't heard his music, I suggest you do. R.I.P. Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole! We all miss you!
