Somewhere over the Rainbow medley holds a special place though. I have seen a lot in my life. I was on the first civilian plane after hurricane Katrina and helped for a week.
I went to Haiti after the earthquake and my job at home is in the Emergency room.
I see a lot of tragedy and when it gets to me I put that song on (my mp3 player) cry through it and then I see everything different and go back to the work I love.

After getting some info about Israel on the internet I found out he was one of the Makaha Sons of Niihau.
I lived on Oahu in 1979 and heard them in concert while I was there. I bought their album and Israel signed the back of it.
I didn't know that he had passed away in 1997.
Looking at the picture of him on the album when he must have been about 20 years old, brought back wonderful memories of my time there.
I couldn't listen to the cd for awhile as I believe I was grieving for him. I am now enjoying it again. What a wonderful talent, but gone too soon.

I listen to his version of Over the rainbow daily,and it never fails to awaken in me a desire to do more with the time I have left.
At 64 you think you'ver heard it all and then the Lord puts Iz in your heart to remind us why we are here. and what remains to be done.
May the Lord continue to bless your family as he has mine, even when we question Him. Iz, I'm sure used every ounce of stregnth he had to make those changes possible in many lives around the world.
